Mothers Day………

May 12th, 2009 | 5 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Mothers Day with two kids in the Wegmans parking lot looked something like this…..

Mike went into Wegmans, Nolan immediately started crying which made Miles cry.  Miles blew out his diaper and needed to nurse.  Took Miles out of the carseat to change diaper and handed Nolan a piece of bread to occupy him (mind you he is still crying uncontrollably at this point).  Nolan started choking on piece of bread.  Get out of car put Miles back in carseat without strapping him in.  Run to other side of car and get Nolan out to fish bread out of his mouth and calm him down.  Look over at Miles who has fallen over himself in the carseat and with his chihn to his chest he is cutting off his oxygen.  Put Nolan back in carseat run to other side of car to get Miles out who now wants to nurse.  Nolan commences crying at the top of his lungs… the type of cry that gets silent once in a while.  Organize Miles in front seat to nurse with new privacy nursing apron… very awkward when you are not used to it.  15 minutes and Mike shows up with me crying, Nolan crying and Miles nursing.  Is this how it is with two kids!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Mothers Day belated to all the mothers out there

Miles is Home!!!

miles_052009_pic01.jpg They let Miles come home!  The last few nights at the hospital he was taking his bottles like they wanted him to and he was breastfeeding like a champ during the day and gaining weight.  It was his last goal to reach in order for them to let him come home.  Now he is home with no nurses, no monitors and no alarms.  It is a bit scary, I think I became dependent on those monitors and the nurses to tell me the alarm was “ok”.  But we had a typical newborn night.. not much sleep so luckily Nolan is in daycare today to give me a chance to catch up on some sleep.  I don’t know how mom’s do it with two!!!!  I guess I will have to learn pretty quickly!  Welcome home Miles:)

I dont even know what day it is…

I am not sure how many days have gone by since I updated this, but Miles is still in teh NICU but is doing great.  He is in a room air crib… no isolette anymore.  No more IV’s or tubes except for the feeding tube.  His last hurdle is to learn how to eat.  he has to take all of his nutrition from a bottle when I am not there and from me when I am there and gain weight at the same time.  He is halfway there, so the prospects of him coming home this week are very very good!  I have been spending all my time at the hospital about 12 hours a day to give him the best chance at learning how to breastfeed, hence these updates have been dwindling.  But a huge huge thanks to everyone for their comments and well wishes, and dinners and babysitting offers.  We could not have made it through these last two weeks without all of you.  Lots of love to everyone!!
